The LCD – or Liquid Crystal Display- is a screen on the top or side of the id card printer that displays the current status of the printer. The display changes messages as the printer changes operational functions. If the printer is malfunctioning, the display is often capable of providing human readable messages to alert the operator of the error. Some printers provide operational assistance by following the directions that the display shows throughout the printer adjustment processes.
Printers that do not have a LCD display have LED lights which indicate printer status. The LCD display is easier to read and interpret than the LED lights.
